The Documentary, Apollo 1 directed and produced by Mark Craig, has quickly gained international attention for its exceptional narrative and striking visuals. After premiering to critical acclaim at several major film festivals, including those in Boulder International Film Festival, Naples International Film Festival, and Washington West Film Festival, it continued to build momentum across the global circuit. A special screening was held during NASA’s annual Day of Remembrance at Kennedy Space Center in January 2025. This special screening further elevated the documentary profile, drawing industry insiders and enthusiastic audiences alike, solidifying its place as one of the year’s most talked-about cinematic achievements.
Charles Hien Duong
West Michigan Aviation Academy
2026 Roger B. Chaffee Scholarship Scholar
Charles Hien Duong is an exceptional 2026 graduate of West Michigan Aviation Academy. He plans to attend University of Michigan in the fall to pursue a degree in aerospace aeronautical propulsion engineering. Charles is also deeply interested in robotics and hopes to improve accessibility and efficiency in robotic systems to benefit society.
Throughout his high school career, Charles has demonstrated strong academic commitment while engaging in a wide range of extracurricular activities. He has been an active member of FIRST Robotics Team 9206, contributing to engineering and innovation initiatives, and has independently developed technical skills as a personal website developer. Charles has also been involved in athletics, including soccer, track, cross country, and bowling, showing both versatility and dedication.
A proven leader, Charles served as Soccer Captain and held leadership roles on the No Surrender Running Club Youth Board as well as Student Council. His involvement reflects his ability to motivate peers, collaborate effectively, and contribute meaningfully to his school community.
